FEES & POLICIES

FEES

I offer a range in fees because a) I want to be inclusive, b) each person and/or family has unique financial circumstances, and c) I do not take insurance. The fee ranges below represent the lowest and highest cost of a session and is what I can offer at this time. Currently my sliding scale & low-fee session slots are full (see sliding scale & low-fee therapy resources on my Resources page). Before therapy begins, we will come to an agreed-upon fee based on the current fee range, your finances, and your therapeutic goals.

I increase fees every 1-2 years by a small amount. I ask that clients let me know if their financial circumstances have changed, whether you win the lottery or lose your job—or anything in between.

Individual Psychotherapy

$200-$275 for 50-55 minutes

$240-$350 for 80-85 minutes

$300-$395 for 110-115 minutes (a double session)

Psychotherapy for families, chosen families, and 2+ clients

$220-$295 for 50-55 minutes

$280-$355 for 80-85 minutes

$340-$415 for 110-115 minutes (a double session)

* Most often, I recommend a double session 2x monthly based on the intensity of therapy with 2+ people and for deeper relationship integration of the therapeutic work.

Hourly rate – $200-275

Sliding Scale

All sliding scale & low-fee slots are currently full. If you are interested in a sliding scale rate, I can put you on a waiting list for availability. Again, for sliding scale & low-fee therapy see the Resources page of this website.

Insurance

I do not directly bill insurance or accept insurance reimbursement. I can create a monthly or as-needed receipt of services if your insurance plan will reimburse you for psychotherapy. Please consult your insurance company.

Forms of Payment

Payment is due at the end of each session. I accept major credit cards, cash, electronic payments, and checks. I use Simple Practice, an online practice management program, and clients can enroll for online payment through Simple Practice.

POLICIES

Cancellation Policy

I ask for advanced notice of two business days/48 hours to cancel and reschedule your session. If you cancel your session with less than notice of two days or are a “no show” for a scheduled session, you are responsible for your session’s full fee.

Therapy works best when clients are committed and attend sessions regularly. If you cancel 2+ psychotherapy sessions (due to vacation or other non-illness related reasons), I can no longer hold or guarantee your session’s slot and it may be useful to examine if you are presently ready or able to commit to psychotherapy. Please discuss at the onset of psychotherapy or ASAP any plans you have that would require you to miss 2+ psychotherapy sessions. If you miss 3+ appointments in a six-month period, I may refer you out to another therapist, unless we have a different arrangement in place ahead of time.

Illness or Unanticipated Roadblocks for Attending a Session

If you are too ill to have a cogent session, please cancel with as much notice as you can. I will do the same for you.

If you are ill or unable to attend in person but well enough to have a video or phone session, I require a minimum of 4 hours’ notice in order to prepare for the change of venue.

Online Record Keeping

When we plan a session, after the Initial Meeting, I will send you a link to Simple Practice, the online forum I use for my practice’s scheduling, video sessions, emailing, record keeping, forms, and other documents. On Simple Practice’s website you will be prompted to create a client account, fill out and sign forms, and make payment arrangements. Simple Practice is a HIPAA compliant online service, and I choose to use it to keep my records under one “roof” and to save paper.

Diagnoses

A mental health diagnosis or diagnoses can offer insights and be useful for clients’ psychotherapy process and progress. A diagnosis or diagnoses also enables clients with health insurance or behavioral health coverage to have their psychotherapy paid for in total or in part. If applicable and/or necessary for your health insurance or your therapeutic process and progress, we will discuss the role diagnoses will play in your psychotherapy.
